Condition: Mint - removed only for photos. top of original bag is carefully slit for removal The pop-up is also in perfect condition. Includes original bag with original cardboard hang tag and advertisement (see below)
First English edition - In 1960 Bancroft began packaging 12 of Kubasta's large tri-fold pop-up boks and called them "the Panascopic series"*, "Bancroft was the first Western publisher to market Kubasta's books, which were eventually translated into 37 languages" (Grolier). Moveable wheel on front cover, showing a map of the world . 8 pages of text.followed by a double page pop-up of the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria with elaborate threaded masts.
Included in the original packaging for Kubasta's Panoscopic pop-up books was an advertising flyer for all the books in the series at the time. The ad states: "Panascopic Model Books: 12 1/4 x 9; 14 pages; These beautifully colored stand-up books have eight large pages of original story and a unique 3-fold board cover with stand-up picture model in full color. Each of these models also has animation: 305, Circus Life; 303 In the Jungle; 308 An American Indian Camp; 302, On the Farm; 304, Ricky the Rabbit; 302, Christopher Columbus; 306, A Christmas Crib; 307, Father Christmas; 309, Prelude to Christmas; 310 Noah's Ark; 311, Marco Polo; 312, The Castle Tournament"
