The Bookseller, Newsdealer and Stationer 1897 Page 246 advertises this and the others in this series of stand up books
[16pp] (9 x 11"). Stiff pictorial wrappers, was staplebound.
8 pages of text and
8 leaves of embossed, full color lithographed die-cut scenes on stiff heavy paper. Each scene comes with a stand to make it stand up.
The 5 stories are:
Hansel & Gretel, Little Red Riding
Hood, Cinderella, Little Snow White & Rosy Red
The child was supposed to cut/punch out the
figures, and use the slots and tabs to make them stand up. Directions printed in the book are as follows: "Directions: Cut-out the illustrations, following the dotted cut lines. Use the green slips for standards, bending at right angles to them the split sections. In the slits insert the illustrations, which will then stand up."
Condition:
Complete but unbound. Punch-out & stand-up pieces are complete, whole
and intact, never punched out!
There are some separations on 2 of the
pages but still un-punched with no tears and no missing pieces.
Most pages have become unbound but they are
still there.
Pages have normal browning around edges but
no chipping.
