Collector's Corner: One interesting feature unique to this
title is the twisted blue and white sting that the old lady uses around
her pig's leg to help tame him on one of the movables.
This book is part of Dean’s Moveable Book Series Each book in the series had 8 movable plates, Pull tabs that moved 2-3 parts of each image. The size of each was 11 ½ x 7 ½ inches; 285 x 185mm or 9 ¾” X 6 ¾” This series was published from 1857 to 1864 and cost 2 schillings each. They
were advertises at the time as "Dean & Son's Series of Two Shilling
Coloured MOVEABLE-FIGURE BOOKS, CHANGEABLE SCENE BOOKS, &o. By a
mechanical contrivance, the principal Characters move and act in
accordance with the incidents of the Story" . Note: According to
old book references from the time you could pay an extra shilling(3s)
for untearable cloth on some of the titles. It is interesting that the
untearable cloth books were more expensive than the moveables.
